What If Understanding Welfare Schemes Was as Easy as Sending a Voice Note?
AI Chatbot in Action!

For the past few months, my computer screen has been a chaotic mess of conversational flows, bug reports, and audio processing tests. There were definitely days when getting all the logic to line up felt overwhelming, and trying to patch together a functioning system as a 17 year old has been a massive learning curve.
But today, I am incredibly proud to share a massive update. The Workers of India AI WhatsApp chatbot is officially functional and live.
If you have been following this journey, you know exactly why this matters so much. At our local workshops, I kept meeting domestic workers who could not read our printed booklets but used WhatsApp voice notes to communicate with their families every single day. I realized that the biggest hurdle is not a lack of information, but the fact that the information is incredibly difficult to understand. The goal was always to build a solution that fit seamlessly into their reality, spreading awareness in a way that actually makes sense to them.
After a lot of trial, error, and testing, that vision has finally come to life. The chatbot is ready for people to start using, and its main purpose is to help workers understand what they are eligible for. Here is what it can do:
It speaks their language: The chatbot currently supports English, Hindi, and Marathi. Users can interact in the language they are most comfortable with, completely removing the usual translation barriers.
It understands voice and text: You can type your questions or simply send an audio message. The AI will process it and reply right back in the chat.
It breaks down complex information: It helps users get clear guidance about e-Shram registration, figure out their eligibility criteria for various welfare schemes, and understand how domestic microcontracts work.
It took a long time to build and refine everything, but it is finally ready. You do not need to download a new app or try to decode a complicated government website to figure out what programs apply to you.
You just need to send a message to +91 99870 08290 on WhatsApp.
This is a huge milestone for Workers of India. The technology is finally out there and working. Now comes the next big challenge. We need to get this number into the hands of the informal workers who need it the most so we can start spreading real awareness.
If you know a domestic worker, a driver, or anyone in the unorganized sector who could benefit from this, please share the number with them. Have them send a simple voice note in English, Hindi, or Marathi and try it out.
This project started with a few printed booklets handed out at a community center. Today, it is a fully functioning tool available to anyone with a smartphone. I cannot wait to see where we go from here.
